contact angle

Hi

I am using the Flunt VOF model to simulate the capillary-driven flow. In my simulation, I specify the contact angle as a given value, but when I draw the two-phase interface by using vof=0.5 iso-surface, I found that the contact angle at the wall is not the value I input. I checked the user guide, but I am still not clear about how Fluent handle the contact angle. Can anybody explain it to me, or give me some suggestions about correct ways to check the contact angle value?

Thanks.

Yan

Re: contact angle

Are you using Geo-reconstruct scheme? the mesh is quad (hexa)? How much is the difference between the angle you found and the one expected?

Re: contact angle

I tried Geo-reconstruct and the explicit schemes. My mesh is quad. If I use the cell value for the vof=0.5 surface and then calculate the angle, the differences are almost 7 deg. I am not sure my method to calculate the angle is corrct or not.

Thank you for your reply.

Hi! Did you figure it out? I encountered the same problem....

Same problem!

I have same problem too as I input an angle lower than 20 degree it shows angle more than 150 degree! and my hydrophilic surface act as super hydrophobic one as the angle more than 20 the difference is lower I don't realy know what is the problem
