wat would be the BC for Free surface in setting up 2D straight open channel ?

The viscosity of a gas is usually much smaller than the viscosity of a liquid therefore you can estimate that the shear stress is zero in the boundary.

I am very new to Fluent and self taught so try to keep answers simple as possible.
Going along with the post two above. I have a rectangular cross section with open channel conditions. For the BC of the inflow ( I have water and air as my fluids) do I need to do something special? I set up Multiphase flow. Checked Gravity and Open Channel Boxes. Set up materials and the solver. After iterations and taking the display vector approach, I discovered from the velocity profile that only water was being used. However upon further examination I believe it is combining the two fluids, instead of having the air on top and the water on the bottom. How do I separate them? (I believe this is done by specifying BC's which is why I put this reply here) Additionally I do not know the water level, because it is dependent on flow so I am confused what to do. Thanks in advance. |
