open_udf_library error

Hi all,

There have been some posts in this forum concerning the open_udf_library error with specific reference to *nix systems. To be specific, although the udf compiles fine without any errors, when one clicks on load, the following message appears on the TUI console:

Opening library "libudf"...
Error: open_udf_library: No such file or directory
Error Object: #f

I have encountered the same problem with Fluent 6.2. The problem has been solved with help from the installation support team at Fluent. The purpose of this post is to help those with a similar problem.

Solution:

One of the reasons for this error message is that an incorrect Fluent binary is being used. To be specific, for an x86_64 architecture it is important to install the lnamd64 version even if your processor is not AMD-based.

Secondly, unset any reference to lnx86 in the FLUENT_ARCH environment variable. You can do this by simply typing the following at your bash (syntax may vary for other shells) prompt:

unset FLUENT_ARCH

This way, Fluent automatically detects the 64 bit architecture and loads the x86_64 binary for use.

Hope this helps.
