Mesh Size for Multiphase Simulation.

Hi Guys,

Can anyone recommend a method for determining optimal mesh size for a 3D model that will contain solid particles and gas flow (its a FCC). The particle size will be 100 microns.

One method would be to start with a large mesh size, say 10cm, run the simulation, then repeat with a smaller mesh size, say 5cm. This could be repeated until the residuals appear to reach a constant limit. Are these realistic starting sizes?

It's a large geometry and takes a long time to calculate so any advice could potentially save a lot of time.

Any thoughts are welcome.

Best regards,

Owen
