volume fraction to concentration

Problem: passive scalar transported by background fluid with eulerian multiphase mixture model. How can I convert the transported phase, reported in Fluent as a volume fraction, to a concentration [kg/m3]? Should I multiply the transported scalar volume fraction by the scalar density?

Thanks in advance!

Esther

yes, if you have your phase of interest with a volume-fraction Vi/V, you can find the mass of phase i in volume V (total volume of the mixture) as (Vi/V)*rho. So indeed you're right: just multiply. I'd suggest to do this in a user defined field function so that you can easily postprocess using this quantity.

good luck, Laika, still orbiting

Many thanks, Laika. I used a custom-field function to post process volume fraction as you suggested.

Very kind of you. Bye.
