sloshing in tank
Hi
I am working on a sloshing problem in a tank. There is a rectangular domain (corresponding to cross-section of the tank) bounded by walls from all four sides and inside consisting of air and water. The tank is supposed to roll to-and-fro. How do I impose this to-and-fro oscillation ? Thanks in advance Manoj |
Re: sloshing in tank
UDF controlled gravity direction vector
good luck, Laika, still orbiting |
Re: sloshing in tank
Thanks Laika
Can it also be simulated by adding suitable source term in the momentum equation ? Manoj |
Re: sloshing in tank
Hi manoj,
I personally found out that the more robust way to deal with time dependant accelerations' fields is to change the gravity components in the operating conditions panel via udf or scheme file as Laika suggested. In case of spinning tanks or other rotations you can use the MRF. take care to set your walls as moving walls with zero velocity with respect to the neighbouring cells. Cheers Edi. |
Re: sloshing in tank
Hi Edi
Which define macro should I use to define my udf ? Can you send me any such udf? Thanks Manoj |
Re: sloshing in tank
I tried to send it to your e-mail address but received delivery errors. check your e-mail and let me know.

I have the same problem. May I ask you to send me too? Sabbasi_mr@yahoo.com
