Default sloshing in tank

Hi

I am working on a sloshing problem in a tank. There is a rectangular domain (corresponding to cross-section of the tank) bounded by walls from all four sides and inside consisting of air and water. The tank is supposed to roll to-and-fro. How do I impose this to-and-fro oscillation ?

Thanks in advance

Manoj

Thanks Laika

Can it also be simulated by adding suitable source term in the momentum equation ?

Hi manoj,

I personally found out that the more robust way to deal with time dependant accelerations' fields is to change the gravity components in the operating conditions panel via udf or scheme file as Laika suggested. In case of spinning tanks or other rotations you can use the MRF. take care to set your walls as moving walls with zero velocity with respect to the neighbouring cells.

Cheers

Edi.

Hi Edi

Which define macro should I use to define my udf ? Can you send me any such udf?

Thanks

Manoj

Hello, i am also solving similar sloshing problem. circular tank under seismic load i have acc. vs frequency(example frequency converted in time period (5 sec. i have acc. value for that time period now i have to divide time period in 4 intervals of 1.25 each and simulteniously changing the direction of acceleration to simulate motion similar to to and fro motion) values i am loking for pressure on all walls due to seismic effect.I also want suggestion to solve it with dynamic mesh or with playing with acceleration values in operation conditons.
