Memory size on disk, help!

Hi Everybody!

I have a question about Memory on disk in solving Fluent. I use around 1.3 million nodes, but the memory is near 1.4 GB on RAM.

Could anybody show to me how to reduce memory size , and increase solving Speed in FLuent?

Manythanks, have a nice weekend to all friends!

Re: Memory size on disk, help!

With a model this large I presume you are parallel processing (dual processor workstation or network). I use a dual processor machine and I recently discoved the benefits of reordering the grid domain (Grid/Reorder/Domain). Reordering your grid domain will probably reduce your model bandwidth considerably, speeding up the solution time. If you reorder a couple of times the reported reduction ratio will approach 1 which is the optimum condition.

As far as memory goes the best approach is to make sure that you need all these nodes. Is the grid density too dense in areas where it doesn't need to be. It is usually better to start with a courser grid and to use grid adaption to focus on the important flow conditions.

Hope this helps,

Chris

Hi Chris!

Thank you for your detailed recomendation. The reodering command for Grid will speed up the solution, and we do not have any other options to increase it.

Thanks once more!
