Performance of dual core AMD processors

Hi

I need some advice on the (Fluent) performance of the AMD Opteron 275 dual core CPU's w.r.t. a 3.6 GHz Xeon processor. I haven't found any Fluent benchmark info comparing these two processors. At the moment I am looking at purchasing either a Dell 670 (Intel based CPU) or a HP xw9300 (AMD). The SPEC performance figures indicate that the HP is the better option. Comments?

Thanks

Take the HP !!!

There is no doubt, the Opteron 275 will literally crush the 3.6GHz Xeon by a factor of 1.7-2 (depending on Xeon model, 1MB or 2MB of cache memory)! On Linux, a 3.6GHz Xeon is just a bit better than a Opteron 248, so you can easly imagine the difference.

Best wishes, Razvan
