2 velocities in VOF

I am simulating a thin liquid film on a pipe wall which travels at a much lower velocity than the gas phase. The liquid film moves at a velocity of about 0.1 m/s. The gas phase moves at a velocity of 6 m/s. Is this possible when using the VOF model? Also, the liquid volume fraction is about 6% at the pipe inlet.

no u cannot give two velocities but instead u can give the volume fraction of the phases. thanks Rashmi |

Yes, but I have been able to specify two different inlet velocities by have separate inlets for each phase. However, when the difference between the two velocities is too great the VOF model tends to mix the two phases together. The liquid and gas phases should have a clear defined boundary layer between them. So this is why I am curious to know if the VOF model is suitable when modeling two phases moving at differing velocities. Thanks. Regards, John. |
