I noticed this document on the upcoming version of FLUENT; FLUENT 6.3

www.fluent.com/worldwide/italy/support/ugm05/forum.pdf

Does anyone know what features this new version will have beyond FLUENT 6.2??

as i remember (according to fluent support) the biggest change that might come in fluent 6.3 is support for polyhedral meshes. Fluent by descretisation supports the polyhedral meshes, but the mesh file format does not allow it to read polyhedral meshes. So they might change fluent to support this, like starCCM+. apart from this, i do not think there will be much changes in external menu, but certain algorithms might be updated, mainly related to parallel processing, since 6.2 came up with some new algos related to parallel version and that has some bugs, will be sorted out (hopefully).

The main new feature in Fluent 6.3 will be the support for polyhedra mesh. Also cartesian meshes will be supported, but I think they will be generated only in TGrid 4.0 and not within gambit...apart from this, a new pressure-based couple solver is expected and new flux splitting schemes (called AUSM+) in density-based codes in hypersonic flows...plus some generic enhacements in boundary conditions' implementations and large-scale parallel processing.

As far as I know they are also working on a Lam-Turb transition model ala CFX

Thanks folks!!

I was kind of hoping for some word on combustion related topics. Recently, someone published a modification to the Realizable k-e model for reacting flows. That kind of stuff would be nice to see. Also, second moment closures like SSG might be nice too. I don't know if anyone has a credible alternative to SMC methods like the SSG model for reacting flows.
