gravity

hi all iam working with 3d cylindrical pipe...and the flow is along z direction...so what will be the sign of g in z direction..do i need to specify value of g only in z direction ie direction of flow of all the three...

anybody have any idea plz hepl

thank

Hi Rashmi

The important point is the orientation of the cylinder. I assume that the cylinder is horizontal, i.e., its axis is horizontal, and z-axis lie along this axis of cylinder, then the value of g in this direction will be zero. So, you have to check for the orientation of your cylinder, and then you have to see which coordinate axis is along the vertical of cylinder, and assign some value of g to that axis only.

Yes! he is wright; go to define/operating conditions based on cylinder orientation set the direction and magnitude, 9.81 m/s (earth grav)

Hi

I didn't read it carefully earlier. You need to know the sign. Sign will also be dependent on the coordinate system. If z-axis points vertically up, the sign of g has to be negative.
