Default Rotating Tire

Dear All,

I was wondering if any one can help me with a small question I have here.

I want to model a tire thats rolling on a ground at a speed of 100 Kph. Actually the tire is attached to the car and obvioiusly the ground would be moving as well while the car is moving.

I would be grateful if any one can suggest a way on how to model it? Any special meshing considerations? etc.

Thanks a lot in advance.

James

Hi James , you can move the tire by going into the boundary conditions panel and defining the tires to rotate at certain radians/sec. obviously the tires would also rotate at 100 kph. just convert that into rad/sec. Just be careful that tire rotates in the opposite direction with respect to the road. No need to mess around with the mesh.

Have fun Rajat

Hi Rajat,

Thanks a lot for the advice. I guess we have to define the rotation axis as well. I thought it would be a moving mesh example!

Thanks once again.

James
