Porous region set

Hi, all

I am trying to model a 3D system consisted of channel and porous regions. I set two regions in Gambit. But how do I set the condition of boundaries?

Which boundary type do I set the contacting faces between two regions as, the interface or porous jump? If it is porous jump, which domain should the porous jump parameter be used in, surface or volume?

When I draw the system, I get two regions (channel and porous region) firstly, and then put them together. So there are two face between two regions. If I set the parameter as interface, how many faces need I set as interface, one surface or two surface?

Thank you very much!!!

Take care that the interface between two volumes is shared by both of them. That mean: when two volume touch each other, the touching interface must be part of BOTH volumes. If not, Fluent has two faces at the same position and get confused. you end up with walls that do not belong there.

Porous jump is just another concept of porousity. You can use it, when u have a very thin porous medium (like a membrane) than can be expressed in CFD as a face. So for your problem, use porous zone.

The boundary between porous zone and fluid is internal.

Firstly I used "VOLUME" to draw every part of the model, and then put them together. So there are two faces between two parts. How to delete one face, and let there be only an interface between two parts?

Thank you!

use the function "substract volume" or "split volume" with box "connetcted" on.

Sometimes it is very difficult to do so... So I am deleting the whole geometry (without the lower) and reconnect all lines to volumes again... Thats a hell lot of work ... but sometimes its the only way...

Hallo.

I have same problem, i draw volume as porous media in gambit but the result not suitable with any riset. If i draw face in gambit with bondary condition is porous-jump, fluent cannot read it.

Haw should i do ?
