non-positive volumes exist

after creating a 2d cylinder within Gambit, i transfered the mesh into fluent and ran a grid check which failed and i also recieved a message saying "non-positive volumes exist" and "non-positive face area exists".

any suggestions? thanks

Re: non-positive volumes exist

Did you take a real close look at your mesh in Gambit? Check for areas where the lines of the cells may have crossed. I have had that happen when meshing an area with a strong curvature and tried fitting a mesh to a boundary layer. Also check the mesh quality in Gambit, and identify the areas with the most skewness.

Re: non-positive volumes exist

Are you axisymmetric? If so, then the axis of rotation has to be coincident with the x-axis, and your entire grid must be above the x-axis.

Hope this helps, and good luck, Jason
