how to patch liquid to an arbitrary zone?

I use VOF model to track the free surface shape of a rough metal surface when it is melting. The initial surface shape of the molten pool is not regular. In adapt region, there are only three shapes: Quad, circle and cylinder. I cannot patch liquid phase to the region that I want. Any suggestion will be appreciated!! Thanks a lot!

I think an udf is the only way to do this. You can use a user defined memory to "mark" all the cells (set it to 1 for marked cells and zero for others) you want to patch. Then use the adapt->iso-value panel to mark all cells with udm=1.
