DPM injection problems
 

Hi, I hope that you can help me.

I don´t know how read the particle tracks in a model that it need make an injection. I have a particle tracks profile but my model can`t read these tracks. Are somebody help me?

Hello!

I am not quite sure I fully understand your question... I suppose you want to make an injection to eventually calculate particle tracks? If you know everything about your injection then perhaps the easiest way to set it up would be to choose the read-from-a-file injection type and write a simple text-file on the syntax that FLUENT is able to read. There is more about this in the user's guide.

Thanks a lot Henrik. I believe that I must explain you my situation. I wrote a profile on the outlet of my model. This profile includes: x, y and z velocities, pressure, temperature, turbulence, and DPM profiles. I read it on the inlet of another model but I don't know how read the particles tracks profiles on the injection panel.

Really, I think that must have a way to read the DPM profles since my profile file, and I believe that must be with the file injection option on injection panel.

What do you believe about it? Any suggestion I will be thankful.

I have no experience from doing something quite like this, but the text-file used by FLUENT to define an injection in the read-from-a-file injection type includes particle position, velocity, diameter, temperature and flowrate for each particle parcel (at least if the particle type is droplet). If all this information is in the profile file, then I guess there should be little or no problem to do this. If FLUENT does not write the boundary profile file on the same syntax (which it hopefully does if you write only DPM information to a file?), then you could perhaps write a UDF that interprets the information in the profile file or something like that.

thanks for your suggestions,Henrik, I have created the DPM history files and I read it on the inlet of another model. Just now I try to find the way to activate this injection in the model. On the injection panel, I choose the injection file mode but when Fluent iterate DPM, it does not recognize any injection.

What can be wrong?

I don't think you can read it in as a profile; instead, try to create a file injection and choose your file from the File...-dialouge. Don't know if this will work though, it's probably depending on the syntax in the profile file.

I`ll try to solve the problem with your recomendation, I'm going to follow the users fluent guide to create the track file. I am in contact.

I've made the same simulation. I've created a M_file with matlab that creates the iniection automatically. Perhaps I'll send to your e-mail. It's for a duct. But the idea is that for each particle you must define a file.txt (remeber to read "all file" extension in the window menu of fluent if you are using 6.26 version instead of the stupid default sigla "injection definition file"). Remember that even if you are studying a 2D geometry you must the define the txt as if a 3D case!!

I am agree with you help. Really, your matlab code could be a better way to solve my problem because I`ve tried with several injections but all of these are wrong. my e-mail is: ime_alex@hotmail.com.
