particle collisions

hi,everyone
Particle collision is not covered by the Fluent simulation, but I really hope to simulate it, could anyone tell me how to? |

i think it is. check discrete phase model panel and under spray model you can turn on droplet collision. But I also have a question now. It says in fluent manual:
In steady-state discrete phase modeling, particles do not interact with each other and are tracked one at a time in the domain. However, for the spray model, discrete phase droplets interact with each other in collisions, and hence all droplets are tracked together. So this is confusing. If I use the atomizer model (pressure-swirl) with steady state, do the particles interact?? |

Yes,i think so. In DPM, the solid particles don't interact with each other, it's apparent,and with the spray model, the droplets could have interactions.So i hope to verify if it's true that the droplets(liquid) could be replaced by the solid particles.if it's affirmed, our problems could be solved.

Hi, even iam working on a similar project and in the steady state Discrete phase modeling and using surface atomizer.my problem there are no species mass fractions of the fuel(kerosene ) in the injection,iam able to get only oxygen mass fraction . if you know anything about it kindly pass it.. thanks in advance

dear farhath,
If the kerosene in ur problem is still in liquid phase fluent wont show its mass fraction. |

Sir,
I have modeled a dredging hopper in 2D. the model is a rectangular box of dimensions 2m x 0.59m.The inlet is located in the left hand side top corner of the box and the outlet at the right hand side top corner of the box. First in steady state I have studied the flow of pure water from inlet to outlet. Now I want to study the flow of sand particles in discrete phase model through injection.Please let me known your piece of advice or if possible the procedure. Thank you S.Prince samson IIT Madras |
