Default Difference between B.C. in Gambit and Fluent

Dear all,

I'm new to Fluent and have just started practising it. I noticed in both Gambit and Fluent that there are options for me to enter the B.C.s, so do i need to enter the B.C.s in both? Or just enter the B.C.s in one of them? What if there're conflicts between the two?

you specify the bounderies in gambit, these are saved when you export the mesh. When you read the mesh into fluent, fluent recognize these boundaries and you shall be able to apply the conditions to these boundaries in boundary condition panel.

u can change most of the bc in fluent, but not all. If a face has a internal BC, it can just be changed into a few other (porous jump, radiator, wall).

Also, it is more convinient to set BC in gambit, because you can select the actual face in the geometry and give it a name (that name is the only thing u see in Fluent).

In Gambit you assign the regions of your mesh that would be treated as boundaries, In Fluent you set up these regions i.e. assign values of variables and parameters, Good Luck

I thing, every surface (or volume) that is created in gambit will be treated as boundary condition in Fluent. If a surface in gambit is not defined, Fluent will produce a wall or something a like from it...

I guess the difference is that you assign the type of boundary in gambit and you assign boundary values in fluent
