Maximum cells number?

I am working with a 3 Gb-Ram on a Windows platform and I would like to know what the maximum mesh size i can create with Tgrid is; Thanks in advance

Re: Maximum cells number?

From Fluent web site:

"32-bit machines are limited to processes that, together, require less than 4GB of RAM. On most PCs, processes are limited to 3GB in size. This restriction limits FLUENT simulations to problems with 2 to 3 million cells (per processor), depending on the number of auxiliary equations (for turbulence, heat transfer, species transport, or multiphase, for example) being solved. The 64-bit architecture lifts the process size limit to 10 million of cells with 4GB of RAM depending always on the number of auxiliary equations".

If you want more informations look at the Fluent web site. Hope this hepls Emanuele

Thanks Emanuele, but the problem is not Fluent (I am working in parallel mode whit 3 nodes) my problem is build the mesh with only one node in Tgrid.

Re: Maximum cells number?

O.k. I tell you my experiences: 1)With one node and 1Gb of Ram I usually build a grid with max 2 millions of cells 2)With one node and 4 GB of Ram I usually build a grid with max 5 million of cells. This is only my personal experience I don't know exactly how the grid is affected by hardware resources. Emanuele

Re: Maximum cells number?

thanks again Emanuele!.That is the same limit I reached, about 5M cells. I unknow the reason but Tgrid says something like that: "cannot allocate memory for id...".If i want built mesh more than 5M i have to create two separate meshes and use Tmerge utility to join them. Is there any other option?
