Heat Transfer on the outer surface of cylinder?

I was just wondering if anybody has done a project on calculating the convection heat transfer coefficient on the outer surface of the warm cylinder placed inside the wind tunnel to cool down. Thanks Alireza

Re: Heat Transfer on the outer surface of cylinder

that's not a simple simulation...

the calculated heat transfer depends on the turbulence, the turbulence model (k-omega is said to give the best results), the mesh (Boundary Layer) y+, wall treatment (wall function), temperature dependency of the gas values at the temperature close to the cylinder,....

I am on the same simulation, but so far... not very succsessfull.

Beside this, a correct measurement of the heat transfer on the cylinder surface is difficult.

best wishes! Ralf
