slug flow

just want to ask is anyone has done any research or tutorial on slug flow by using FLUENT?

Re: slug flow

Hello,

I am also doing simulation on slug flow using Fluent. However i am still trying.

Hope that we can help each other.

Regards

Re: slug flow

actually, i'm a new user of Fluent.Absolutely know nothing about this software. I wish to know the settings in this case. Hope someone can help.

Re: slug flow

For doing slug flow analysis, you will need to do unsteady analysis, VOF of fluid method is good for slug simulation. Does anyone have idea of slug catcher ?

Re: slug flow

I am also using VOF for slug simulation.

However was unable to get satisfactory results

Can anyone help?

What is a slug catcher?

Re: slug flow

thanks sumedh.i'm using VOF too. Maybe left out some settings. And by the way, what is courant number?

Paul_C February 17, 2006 09:43

Re: slug flow

I have kept it at 0.25.

Are you also simulating slug flow?

Re: slug flow

yes. this is my first undergraduate project. My first testing was failed. As i said before, I might left out something. So I really need some help.

Re: slug flow

did you add in surface tension? what is the boundary conditions and initial conditions u have used? do you have any readings or tutorial regarding slug flow simulation?

shu ming February 19, 2006 11:45

Re: slug flow

i can't remember the value of surface tension. is there any empirical value for that? i've used gas inlet velocity and outlet pressure as my boundary conditions.

Paul_C February 19, 2006 23:44

Re: slug flow

There should be experimental data for that. i think you can go search journal for the value.

When using VOF, the meshing is very important.

If you come across any good journal on slug flow please let me know cos i also needs them thanks.

Re: slug flow

i'm facing problem with the animation. i can't see the air flows in. so how?

Paul_C February 25, 2006 12:16

Re: slug flow

what do you mean?

shu ming February 25, 2006 21:33

Re: slug flow

i can't see any volume fraction for the air in the animation, meaning the whole column is water. so i wonder what is the error. can someone show me how to set the animation? and i wish to know what is the optimum velocity for the inlet gas. thanks.

Re: slug flow

did u include the bubble into the computational domain? if not how are you going to see air fraction inside?

shu ming February 26, 2006 06:08

Re: slug flow

how to do it?
