Hey guys,
I have a question. I'm trying to monitor the total heat flux through a steel wall over time. I have a laminar water stream passing by and trasfering the heat to the nearby wall. I know that I can check the Flux under Reports/Fluxes/Total heat transfer rate/... at any point, but is it possible to monitor this over time? I tried using Monitors/Integral/Wall Fluxes/Total surface heat flux, but this stays zero over time without any change? Any ideas? |

Hey Makal,
indeed I did but three years ago and I don't have access to the files or the software anymore. But I think I had to use a different approach and monitored the enthalpie flux h through the wall. I also checked the flux into the inlet and out of the outlet in order to have a tool of validation (Inlet flux minus Outlet flux = Wall flux). Hope this is helping. Feel free to contact me via private message. Greetings Tom |

Hi,
it seemed a bit complicted so i asked support. They said it was no way to monitor the total heat transfer out but you can write it to a text file. I'm logging everything in a textfile already so at the end of my simulation i added /report/fluxes/heat-transfer no Outlet () yes outlet.flp this calculates the total heat transfer at the Outlet and writes it to a file called outlet.flp. I could end it with no and I will only get it in my log file. Its good enough for me Thanks though |
