Dear friends;
how can i define this material: 40% water + 60% solid (with their properties)??? I use DPM and want to evaporate this water. king regards masood |

dpm cannot be used here dpm can be used only if one component is less than 10% of the other phase its a multi phase problem

Choose a wet combusting (or inert) particle. Activate the drying law. Solve.

In addition Allan's own, you can choose combusting particle and activate wet, then select water-liquid, where can specify the amont.(0.4). Remember both cann't be 100%.

Thanks for your attention! Now : 1) i didn't see "drying" law in lawa menu. do you mean evaporation law? 2) combusting particles have volatile,combusting(and ash fraction). when i use use wet combustion, sum of these fractions must be equal to 1??i mean: combusting fraction+volatile fraction+liquid fraction(in wet combustion) = 1 3) how must be laws arrangement??? king regards |

Dear all,
Why i cannot activate the Wet Combustion function? i enabled the P-1 radiation and non-premixed combustion but it still didn't work. i select the combusting particle and turn on the laws and activate the 1,4,5 and 6th laws too. any advice? Thankx in advance Am |

hey Am
are you using non-premixed or species transport? for non-premixed, you've do most of them in pdf. check the tutorial 13 or 14 for sample. if it's species transport, then I don't see why it didn't work. follow the ff steps: 1. start from scratch 2.define solver, energy, etc. 3.define -model-species-then transport: select or use your own 4.activate P-1(it doesn't work well with complex geo/flow) 5.then Discrete Phase under model. In that pop-up window click injection, then create your particle. Read the screen window, you shd see 'wet combustion' then activate it. Remember, the injection definition can be straightly done from 'define' menu. Also more details can be found in the manual and tutoral either 10, 11, or 12.(not sure which one). Dear Freeman,
Thanks with your advice.I'm doing nonpremixed and i had set all the fuel properties include the fixed carbon+volatiloe +moisture +ash composition in pdf.i had a problem with my pdf look up table. It's not the same form as in manual. The max flame temperature is 6412K which is too high.I've tried to reduce the number of defined species but it does not work.Pls help. Am |

your only best bet now is try to run the tutorial pdf and make sure that you understand each step. Then you can really understand what you're doing. as for reducing number of species, I don't think that's the answer. this kind of stuff at times make using commercial code daunting. pdf has never worked for me before. so I always Transport species. that works at times there're frustration involved. as for interface, I don't think it really matters much since basically the same stuff. if what the manual or tutorial is saying cann't be found at specification, it'll either has it in different place or has similar command. you can also go to fluent main forum and ask for help there or call fluent support. my candid advice is switch to transport species if is possible. if not then give it a shot on what i've said earlier. regards |
