LAMINAR MULTIPHASE FLOW

I'm working in the field of glass industry focused on laminar bubble flow in the high viscous liquid (glass melt). I'm a newcomer in Fluent. Can anyone how to model this multiphase task appropriatelly? I am mainly interested in the flow of one single bubble and its size change during rising up to the glassmelt surface due to the pressure gradient. The practical usage of this model is for knowing the growth velocity of bubbles released by refractory material corrosion during melting in the glass furnace. Which of VOF models is most suitable? Which B.C. shall i use?

Yes you should use VOF, but it is not easy for an amateur... There are 3 or 4 VOF methods available in FLUENT, the best is georeconstructor...but it is also the hardest to handle...
I advise you to use a mesh which resolves correctly your bubble curvature... keep in touch |

In my opinion this can be modeled very simply by means of VOF. I tried to define viscous glass melt as a 1st phase and air as 2nd one and also set surface tension. What i still dont know is how to avoid the overpredicted diffussion of the gas into the glassmelt and loosing the exact shape of the interface.
I would most likely achieve the settings under which the bubble remains smooth and entire along the unsteady test time line according to the real beahaviour. Does anyone have experience with that? |

Diffusion is proportional to the grid size, so use a grid size AS SMALL AS POSSIBLE. 4 cells within the interface gives good results. High order scheme for the interface tracking...and I have no visible diffusion of the interface...
