setting up a wind tunnel in gambit, 2.2.30
 

i know next to nothing about gambit and fluent, but i am working with a friend who is learning this software, and we are trying to set up a wind tunnel for a car. right now we are following a tutorial that has us using half a car and merging it to the side of a brick and then running the test, which has been working on and off, when our meshes actually work. but we would like to be able to put the entire car in the brick so we can rotate the car and see what happens when flow hits the car from the side. our overall problem is the place where we are working nobody really had a good understanding of gambit, or if they do, they dont have the time to help us out, if someone could walk us through the techniques for puting a car model or any other model for that matter into a brick for testing, that would be greatly appriciated. -Ian

You have a CAD model, right, now export the file in IGES or STEP format. Form one volume (Stitching all imported surfaces) and then subtract it from the Brick (Boolean operations). Easily said but not so doing it, Roll up your sleevs and Good Luck

can you tell me the difference between sliding mesh and rotating mesh. If you have any material please give information can you pass it on.

which one is to be considered for the wind turbine.

1- FLUENT Tutorials 2- A turbine is a rotating device, is not it, so the mesh surrounding the blades should be rotating

Thanks for showing interest in this problem.

I knew that wind turbines are rotating component and we have to consider moving reference frame while giving boundary condition, from our earlier discursions.

My question is

1. what is the difference b/w moving reference frame and sliding mesh condition.

2. if you have any examples which clearly differenciates b/w these two, please share it.
