Moving bed reactor
 
Hi all,

I want to simulate a moving sphere bed in a cylindrical tube. Hot air inlets from the tube side near the bottom and leaves near the top. Cold spheres enters from the top and leave the bottom of the tube. The Spheres flow rate at inlet equals that at the outlet and the tube is always full. The speed of the spheres is slow in comparison to the air.

I want to determine the temperature distribution at steady state.

Any hint is welcome.

Hi,

I'm working on a similar problem. The Eulerian model seems to be the best choice as the solid and fluid phase are exchanging heat and momentum. Discrete modeling for this situation is unnecessary as the particles are moving very slowly and the collisions between particles can be ignored. The situation is that the particles are slowly being removed from the bottom of the tube.

My question is how to specify the boundary conditions such that one of the phases is entering and the other is leaving. Is there a boundary condition 'type' that can satisfy this requirement?

I have found multiple threads asking this same question, with no answer given in any of them.
Does anyone know how to set up the boundary conditions for counter current multiphase flow? Where the inlet for one phase is the outlet for the other?

Hi Porsche, I'm also working on same problem. In my case I considered porous domain inside furnace rather than using multi phase models.. I got the pressure and velocity distribution correctly but I couldn't get temperature distribution properly..
