Very big simulation - Propagation Algorithms ?

Hello, I'm trying to simulate a supersonic shell (7.62mm for example) at Mach 2.4, some meters away (some means 10 or more).

I've heard that the best method wasn't to simulate from the near to the far field directly but to procede in 2 steps (or 2 zones) consisting of the near field CFD solution and a propagation to the ground (from the near to the far field).

This propagation can be done with specific algorithms, but I don't know where to find one.

Does any body knows if this can be done with fluent ?

Thanks !

Cyril
