boundary condition in porous zone

Hi, I want to simulation the particle and gas movement in the filtration process with porous zone boundary condition. In my case, the particle volume fraction ranges from 0.00001 to 0.8, so I select the eulerian-eulerian model to perform the simulation. The porous zone only let the gas penetrate. The particles will stop moving when they reach the surface of porous zone and the particle will accumulate with time on the porous zone surface. I want to know how the fluent can do this work. Can anybody give some advice? Thanks in advance.

Re: boundary condition in porous zone

porous zone is ONLY setting the resistance to the fluid flow. As far as I know, there are no effects on the particles in a fluid. Fluend dosn't know the size and shape of the pores.

So u have to create a UDF that can filter particle.

Re: boundary condition in porous zone

thanks Ralf, Which type of macros should I define in the udf and whether I can realize the function of letting the particle trapped to porous surface if I let the particle velocity equal to zero when the particle reach the surface of porous zone. Have someone else written the udf similar to this function? Any advice is appreciated.

Hi,
I have a same work to do with water and the micro particles in it. I have never used Fluent before and I don't know what to set in boudary conditions for the fours edges of my porous zone. Can anyone help me?
Thanks

you might want to go through the manual. the tutorial section 8 would be the best place to look at.
