Porous + Natural Convection
 
Has anybody worked on Natural Convection in infinite porous media by FLUENT?

We've done natural convection in finite porous media. How would you proposed to model an infinite medium (maybe with symmetry or periodicity)?

Dear Evan, thanks for your reply.

I have a vertical plate with a hotter temperature than the ambient. I have modeled this by pressure boundary conditions (Inlet and outlet). But the results are not satisfactory. I also have reversed flow in my boundaries.

Please help me.

First, don't use Boussinesq. Either use ideal gas or define a temperature dependent density.

Second, if you are modeling a vertical flat plate in an infinite medium of fluid, move your pressure boundaries further away from the plate.

Third, are you including turbulence? If the plate is hot enough and/or long enough there may be turbulent flow. If you are using wall functions, switch to the enhanced wall treatment.

Hello!

I have to solve a model with porous zone. It's my first model with porous zone. I can't determine boundary conditions for this solve. My model has three volums: Volume 1 - gas volume (fluid) Volume 2 - porous volume (porous) Volume 3 - gas volume (fluid)

I don't know as I can realize boundary conditions on boundary surfaces between gas volume and porous volume. There are two concurring surfaces between gas and porous volumes. Whats boundary conditions I must realize on this surfaces? Sorry for my bad English. Thank you for the answer. Andrew.
