Urinal Problem

I am currently trying to model a stream of urine splashing off the inside surface of a urinal in 2d. Does anyone know how to model a jet of water hitting a surface and splashing back off the surface under gavitaional and atmospheric forces?

Any help would be much appriciated.

Cheers

Adam

Re: Urinal Problem

I believe u need to do VOF analysis for the break up...

Could you describe what you mean in more detail. and how do I setup my container that the experiment is contained within to have air at atmospheric pressure in it?

Re: Urinal Problem

i have not done VOF study yet, however u should focus on the break up section which is quite complicated. u should know the inlet velocity profile of urine to ur control volume. U can safely assume stagnant atmosferic conditions in a bathroom, also u can ignore mass and energy transfer between urine and air, and that should simplify ur case a bit. good luck

I would suggest you read the tutorial regarding the ink jet coming out from the nozzle. Then you could adjust the problem accordingly. To get this tutorial online, log on Fluentusers.com

Where do you find that? If it is not online could you possibly email it to me at: adamjackson1606@aol.com

I am not registered for the fluent website as I am using the program at my university.

Thanks for you help

Drink 12 pints of Guinness, go to your nearest wall and watch what happens. Nothing like real experimentation to satisfy your curiosity and see VOF in action.
