STAR-CD Vs. FLUENT

Hi

Has anyone ever done a Heat trasnfer calc. in both STAR and FLUENT on the same model and found that Convective Heat Transfer in FLUENT tends to higher than in STAR and Radaitive Heat Transfer in FLUENT lower compared to STAR. Is there an explaination that you can think of.

Re: STAR-CD Vs. FLUENT

Dear ravi,

I have not compared them..However, which radiation models are you comparing.. Star-CD had discrete transfer for years, and recently added discrete ordinates..

If you are comparing discrete ordinates, are you sure that StarCD formulation is "finite volume based"? Not all discrete ordinates implementations in finite volume codes are using the finite volume radiation model. For sure FLUENT is a DO based on the FVR method.

Good luck,

Opaque.

Re: STAR-CD Vs. FLUENT

In both STAR and FLUENT, Discrete Ordinates model is being used. I did the FLUENT simulations myself , so I am sure of DO in FLUENT is Finite Volume based. I only have results from STAR runs, I am not sure if the DO in STAR is Finite Volume based or not.
