REG POROUS MEDIA HEAT TRANSFER

Dear All,

I am doing a porous media simulation where in my geometry has around 13 continuous porous region's and I have given the pressure drop in each and every region along with the energy values [ for heat transfer consideration ] . My simulation BC's are inlet mass flow rate and pressure outlet along with heat transfer.

This is the overview of the problem domain. My query is that, I am not getting the effective heat transfer in the region's of the porous domain. The temperature is not raising to the value which was obtained thru experiments. It is not even nearing to that value. It's showing very low temperature rise.

What might be the reason for this. ??????????? Is there anything wrong in the BC's ...... I have used K-epsilon, Superficial velocity formulation, and the domain mesh size is 13 lac.

I request some ppl to help me out in this issue with details.

Thank you Rashmi Venkat

hi

try to use physical velocity for porous formulation

Dear Sebastian,

I tried that option even. But still the problem persists. Any other idea's......

Thnx Regards Rashmi Venkat

try to use pressure inlet and outlet conditions ,

how you model heat transfer?

Dear Sebastian,

I will try with the option given by u. I have given energy values (source term ) in each and every porous domain for heat transfer.

Is pressure inlet and pressure outlet BC compatible in general.?

Thnx Regards Rashmi Venkat

Re: REG POROUS MEDIA HEAT TRANSFER

pressure and outlet conditions are compatible did you use UDF for energy source, if yes then are you sure that you use these suorce in correct form (W/m3)?

Re: REG POROUS MEDIA HEAT TRANSFER

Hi,

I read the quires and answers on heat transfer. I have problem too. I hope you would not mind on my question here.

i am carrying Three-Dimensional Heat transfer analysis ( flow through two concentric pipes ). Inner tube have hat fluid, outer tube consists of cold fluid. inbetween there is a solid domain ( inner pipe with thickness ).

know on meshing in gambit and impoting to fluent , i got shadow walls for fluid-solid regions.

know the question is :

1. what B.C's must be given to Shadow wall side and the one

for wall is of (declared B.C).

2. If you have any probelems (benchwork/tutorial) files can you please forward it.

with regards San
