non uniform velocity profile at inlet

hello,

is it possible to define a non uniform velocity profile as a boundary condition at a velocity inlet; that is, can i set the velocity profile at the inlet to be parabolic, for example, instead of constant? if yes, how?

thank you :)

It is very easy. Please read the UDF manual file, you will know how to do. I remember that there is a example like what you want to do.

Hi!

There is another way:

write the profile as a table (x,y,vx,vz,vy or something like that) or take it from another simulation (with write profile).

Than, import the profile (file->read->profile) and use the vel. components as vel. components in the velocity inlet BC.

You may orientate the profile, look in the fluent manual, how that works.
