hi i have a problem with postprocesing, i use parallel calculation with 8 procesor. when i want to get results i have problems with reporting data. when i start with my file on one computer i have not enough memory (4Gb), when i used parallel procesing i have to wait very long time for results. how to display results with very big geometries, maybe there you can help me

Hi,
Which version of fluent are you using? Guess it is 6.2. It is a prboblem having data when you run in parallel. I suggest you try running interactively using fluent parallel with the command fluent 3d -t2 and see what happens. If this doesn´t work, then you might have to run in serial for getting your data. thank you for your help. I tried to do what you suggest but it still doesn't work, i also tried with serial fluent but all the time i have the same problem with memory (out of memory).

I am also using fluent parallel but i am using only 2 processors......and i am able to write data using monitoring points when i run in batch mode...maybe this can work for you too.
Is this what you are doing? James |

I use 8 procesors and when i want to read any data (mass flux, temperature, etc.) i have to wait very long time (almost 1 hour). when i start to read my data on one procesor there is not enough memory. how long you have to wait for monitoring data when you use 2 procesors? which options do you use for parallel calculations? i use socket as a communicator and then i spawn available hosts! maybe you make it better

Sorry for the previous post.
My fluent license is actually parallel..? So i just have to partition my mesh into two and then submit the job for two processors to the cluster. I am using a host with two nodes. The time you are waiting for it too long for just reading data. I take mostly about less than two minutes to read my data. Now that i am running URANS, i am using monitoring planes for writing my data. My mesh size is 1.5 million cells? What is yours? and did you use the .gz option to compress your case and data files? Are u able to run your parallel job interactively with the fluent 3d -t2 command? I am thinking that this should resolve the problem but it appears it is not. So maybe you can contact Fluent support for help. James |

My mesh size is 4,8 milion cells, i compress my case and data file, i also used the command which you suggested (fluent 3d -t2) but still there is the same problem with memory,
maybe it is good idea to contact Fluent support for help. thank you very much for your help sebastian |
