Dynamic mesh experts required!

Hello all,

I have a simple model based around a converging nozzle. This nozzle is placed on a vibrating wall to act as the drive for the fluid through it. I am trying to model this using a dynamic mesh. I have a compiled function and I am trying to apply this to the model. I am struggling to set up the dynamic mesh, ie what options to choose ect, and I cannot get the model to work. The goal of the study is to find cavitation on the surface on the vibrating wall, i have tried using profiles and interpreted UDF's ad boundary conditions with no luck.

Can anyone give me some guidence? Thanks, Leigh

I'm not quite sure about your problem. Suppose you do all parameters right, you can review the wall motion and mesh changing due to the moving wall in "display/zone motion" and "solve mesh motion", respectively. You can see if the wall moves as you expect. Good luck.

Hello,

Thanks for your reply, I have been able to view the wall moving using the options you have given, a problem is though when I view mesh motion, i would expect as the wall moves, the mesh would move too, ie so the number of elements stays the same, (so when the vibrating wall moves towards the nozzle the mesh would be squeezed ect). When I display my mesh motion the mesh stays fixed in the same place and when the wall moves over the first row of elements, I get a negative volume error.

Thanks, Leigh
