mass transfer mechanism on the interphace ?

Default mass transfer mechanism on the interphace ?

I now use Eulerian model to compute water vapour's diffuison from air to frost layer.I have seen mass transfer mechanism on the interphace of 2 phases should be chosen .what does the mechanism mean ?does it mean the mass transfer rate or mass transfer coffecient? i will be very tahnkful for any one give me a help!
