Problem in Reporting Unsteady Particle Fates
 

Hi Everyone,

I am having trouble to get FLUENT to report the particle deposition position under unsteady condition for both flow and particle phase.

What I am simulating is particle deposition in a sudden contracted pipe with sin waveform airflow.

I can get FLUENT to report the particle deposition position under steady condition (assume constant flow) using REPORT -> DISCRETE PHASE -> SAMPLE -> select boundaries (ie. pipe_wall) and Release from: injection-0 -> click COMPUTE, then FLUENT will create a pipe_wall.dpm file which contains the particle deposition position. This method has been documented in FLUENT manual.

However, the method from the manual for unsteady reporting doesn't work on my case, where I did click START in Sample Trajectories panel, then Fluent created the file (.dpm) but contains nothing inside the file after I click STOP.

So, I am wondering if anyone here can kindly tell me what is wrong with my method.
