particle flows?
Building on my last post, I am trying to understand how to model particle flows using fluent (looking at the ways that particles move within a bulk flow, like sediment in a river). Has anyone done this with Fluent 6.2? I suspect that it is possible, however I realize I may need to write a lot of custom UDFs- which may put me in over my head. Thoughts?

Re: particle flows?
I am attemtping something similar. I believe you will want to consider using DPM (Discrete Phase Modeling) if you want to know what the individual particles are doing. I don't suspect you will need to use a custom UDF, unless you are attempting to model particle collisions. If you want to include the buildup of sediment, that will open up another can of worms. This is what I am trying to do, with UDFs.

Re: particle flows?
you can try DPM model for it,with the limit that the volume fraction of particles can't exceed 12%,and you can also display the ways particles move along!
