gas-liquid stratified flow (two phase)
Is it possible to simulate a gas-liquid(air-water) stratified flow (two phase flow) in a rectangular channel with fluent? has any one simulated this model ? please help me ...

It would be better to ask ANSYS to provide you with CFX.

hi what do u want actually to simulate? get it clear i think stratified flow can be simulated using fluent. there is one tutorial in fluent regarding boiling using VOF method. u just once refer that, then i think u will get some idea. but i think it will be some what difficult if any phase change is there.

hello i made a rectangular channel , and water with 0.8 kg/s goes from down and air with 1.2 m/s goes from top of water in the channel . i want know that this model is possible or not? i modeled befor , but result is not desire . thank u

hi, is there any interaction of fluids in the domain, i,e phase change. do u want to calculate the volume fraction of fluid? if interaction is there in your domain, u should write udf for the heat source. then it will be possible

yes fluent absolutely solves your problem and it is quite easy provided you hav modeled such that gas and liquid enters from separate inlets. gas from upper inlet (face if 3d or edge in 2d) and water from bottom. if you are intersted in steady state claculation go for implicit vof, else geometric reconnstruct is advisable

Hi Rizwan

could you tell me the way you have specified your boundary conditions? This seems to be a big issue. I get the velocity profile right, but my channel is only full of the second phase except close to the inlet where I can see some very tiny volume fractions of the primary phase.
Do you have any idea of what is wrong? Thanks in advance for the help you could provide.
