Default virtual vs. real geometry in gambit?

Hi All, I am working through some of the tutorials in Gambit to try and understand my modelling error in the baseball problem. Wondering if anyone can explain the practical difference between real and virtual geometry, and why you would use one over the other for different applications.

Thanks
