Specifying a velocity profile in Fluent

Hi All,

I am using a K-E turbulence model to model flow over a domes structure. However I need to specify an input velocity profile.

I have looked in the boundry conditions and set it to velocity inlet. When setting these settings I cannot change the velocity profile off the constant that appears.

Can anyone help?

Many thanks in advance, EDD

Re: Specifying a velocity profile in Fluent

Hi... You will need to use a UDF to do this. Then read in the UDF. Go to DEFINE >> USER DEFINED >> FUNCTIONS >> INTERPRETED

Choose COMPILED if you plan to compile it on your own. There is some documentation on how to set up UDFs. Refer to the UDF manual in the documentation. Section 3.1.2 has a good example!

Once you have read your UDF it should appear as a choice in your velocity boundary condition panel.

Take care, Phil
