cyclone pressure drop - reg

Hai to all,

I am doing cyclone separator simulation with inert particle tracking with full hexa mesh. I am not getting the required pressure drop for converged solution(up to 10e-6 residuals)

I am using RSM model and Boundary conditions are velocity inlet and pressure outlet (1 atm) for vortex and bottom as wall.

SIMPLE for pressure velocity coupling and in discretization PRESTO for pressure and all others are second order.

For 20 m/s velcity inlet I should get 1200Pa pressure drop(Total Pressure). But I am getting only 550 - 600 pa.

What should i do for getting the correct pressure drop.

why do you choose the wall for the underflow? is there any suitbale method to define boudary condition of the both underflow and overflow? thanks

Hai,

My practical situation of cyclone separator is like that. So I chose the wall for underflow. For particles, it is outflow.

With regards JSM
