Coal gasification HELP

I'm doing research on fluidized bed coal gasification using CFD fluent, the model i planned to use is non-premixed combustion model. Can someone please teach me how to set-up the model?? or anyone can share the tutorial of this gasification model. I appreciate any help from you guys.

thanks

You'll need to supply a bit more information if you want some meaningful suggestions. Is this a one week student project, multi-year funded study, etc.?

What are you trying to reseach? Model a piece of laboratory equipment? an industrial unit? Modeling the dynamics of a fluidized bed can be quite challenging - without gasification. Are you doing gasification? or combustion? or both? Do you need to keep track of potential pollutants like sulfur and nitrogen species? Do you have good data on gasification rates, intermediate species, etc?

Even for a relatively crude model, but one that is still representative, you would be looking at months or years of work.

Good luck.

Re: Coal gasification HELP

Thanks for your kind reply, Mr. Allan.

Well, it's my final year project for my first degree in university.

My project title is Fludized bed coal gasification, the main area i focus on is the gas released from the gasification process and no need to keep track of potential pollutants.

I had read some technical papers that state coal gasification can be model by non-premixed combustion model. But i don't have any idea how to set-up the model. What i have now is the fluent tutorial for coal combustion. So, is the set-up similar?

I need some guide in preparing the prePDF and setting up the non-premixed combustion model for coal gasification.

Thank you.

Re: Coal gasification HELP

Sure, the tutorial is a good start. Once you have run a case with your geometry and boundary conditions and figured out what you want to look at, then you can make modificaitons as needed.
