Default Y+ refinement in fluent

Hope somebody can help, used this site when i was working with CFX, now its fluent 6.3. I have an aerofoil im modeling in 2D with a structured mesh, my initial mesh from gambit was giving m a Y+ of around 40 until after my shock as i expected. i have since refined the mesh in gambit, not touching the boundarylayer mesh and my Y+ has gone down to about 15. I am using spalart allmaris and i know it doesnt work with y+ between 1 and 30. Anyone know why my value has dropped so much and what i can do about it, the Adapt Y+ function in fluent doesnt seem to be doing much.
