Re: Patch???
when u initialise, it is global initialisatoin, i.e.that value will be assigned to whole doman. Now say u wish to initiailse with some different value locally, thenu can mark/create a region and initialise it with the desired value, i.e. u patch the desired value in some region. patch is local initialisation.

Re: Patch???
hi for example you have cylinder filled with a gas at 425 k.At the same time at some region (inside the cylinder)part of the gas is at 1000k .now you want to intilize some part of the gas at 425k and some part of the gas at 1000k.at this satsge you will with the help of adapt option mark the cells you want to inilize at 1000k.then from inlization manue you will inilize whole cylinder with temperature 425k. and you will patch the marked region with temperature 1000k

Re: Patch???
but dont we give all the boundary conditions separately??
i used to think the initialise option was to give a tentative solution, and fluent would work on it through iterations and make the necessary corrections. I know only the inlet temperature & velocity, in that case i shouldnt use initialise, isnt it? as that would apply the the values for the whole volume.. |
Re: Patch???
hi
as far as i understand. initization means. we give fluent a starting point to start with, not an answer. fluent start calculation from the ilization point. for example if you are heating a fluid. you will inilize it at it starting temperature. after heating what tempreature you will get you dont know and fluent calculate it and gives you an answer. |
