How to monitor variable evolution on centerline?
I am very interested in monitoring a variable on a line ( for example, a varible on the axial centerline in X-Y plot). In doing so, I could know what is the each-time-step change of a key variable during the unsteady state simulation.
How to realize it in Fluent? Could you giveme some suggestion. |
Re: How to monitor variable evolution on centerlin
Go to Solve-->monitor--->surface surface monitors increase it to 1 you can switch on Plot, print and write according to your needs. U can select Time step in when drop down list and from define you will reach to a window where you can define the variable and surface. Cheers

Re: How to monitor variable evolution on centerlin
Hi, Ragh, Thanks.
I still do not understand clearly. I want to plot for axample "gas axial velocity vs. radial coodinate". Then monitor the evolution of this curve with time. So, the specific questions: (1) How to set REPORT TYPE (Integral,area-weighted average, flowrate..) ? (2) How to set the radial coordinate as I expect? Hope to get your further help for this. |
Re: How to monitor variable evolution on centerlin
Report type you can set when a window pop up when u say define. But I think that u cant monitor the variable on everywhere on a local co-ordinate, u can only monitor its avg value or value at a point. If you want to monitor it on radial co-ordinate, u need 3 axes for that...I dont know if Fluent can give u so much results and also It will eat lot of memory. Alternatively what you can do is that U can have max allowed monitors (3 or 4)in Fluent on diff radial co-ordinates(start, 0.25r,0.5r,0.75r and r) and afterwards postprocess them as u wish. Hope this does help Cheers

Re: How to monitor variable evolution on centerlin
Ragh,
It is a good idea to use the max. monitor number (<=4)to realize my aim alternatively. Thanks a lot for your suggestion. |
