Dear FLUENT 6.2 user;

Can I use define_geom function to define a time dependent geometry?

I want to model the 2D flow field around a rigid plate (or line in 2D), oscillates (in a specific angular interval) around one of its edges.

with the best regards, ROOZBEH

Hi,

You're modelling a rigid plate so DEFINE_GEOM is a good macro for that. You can use it to prescribe angular velocity of the rotation, so yeah the orientation will be time dependent. I don't quite get what you mean by oscillation around the edges though, that sounds like it's a 3D problem. As far as I understand DEFINE_GEOM cannot provide relative movement between nodes(ie. non-rigid body), for that you use DEFINE_GRIDMOTION. In other words DEFINE_GEOM can only change the orientaion of a dynamic zone, and not the actual shape of it.

I can't find any Informations about DEFINE_GRIDMOTION neither in the Fluent manual nor in the internet. Could somebody please help me?

Thanks in advance!

Ok, it's already done.

The macro is called DEFINE_GRID_MOTION and not DEFINE_GRIDMOTION
