Boundary Profiles

I am using measured profiles for the velocity vector boundary conditions on a mass flow inlet. When I do a countour plot of the velocity components in the boundary face I do not exactly see the profiles that I specified, but something that is already smoothed out. It looks to me as if FLUENT does not show the specified bc information, but somehow extracts the data from the adjacent cells.

How can I do a contour plot of my bc as I specified them and how FLUENT - hopefully - applies them?

Re: Boundary Profiles

i suggest u chek the velocity vecotors at the boundary rahter than contour plot of boundary. i am not 100% sure but boundary contour is unheard of to me, there is an option to plot but u may not see anything as its just a line (2d) or plane (3d). Hope this helps.

Re: Boundary Profiles

U Said, "I am using measured profiles for the velocity vector boundary conditions on a mass flow inlet."

In Fluent u can give either velocity bc or mass flow bc,..but not both on the same inlet,

so, what i guess is u were first giving velocity bc & then giving mass flow condition on the same inlet, so what fluent is doing is taking the mass bc, & thats why u r not getting the same velocity profile as u defined first.

so check for the above thing.

good point noted. may b this is the case. good work Rams.
