strange fluent error: Primitive Error at Node 0

Hello everyone,

I'm facing a strange problem when trying to launch a simulation: 1. I save a .cas/dat of a parallel calculation (that works just fine). 2. later on, I open fluent again (//, same nb of processors). 3. I read the cas/dat mentioned above (this step works, but when it comes to reading the .dat, it takes much longer than the usual). 4. finally, I resume my simulation by asking 100 iterations. I get the following message: Primitive Error at Node 0: Cell_Function_Values: unrecognized function: static xw9300: Connection refused xw9300: Connection refused xw9300: Connection refused

Any clue? Thank you for reading! Cheers /jb

check you network settings.

Re: strange fluent error: Primitive Error at Node

The possibilities are: 1. Are you usung UDF? Yes then recompile your UDF on all the nodes. I assume you are using SGE for your work/job submission. In that case open a terminal and type in Fluent &. After the console pops up click on File, run. In that console check parallel and then select number of processors. After that compile your udfs and then exit. You are ready to submit your script now to SGE.

2. You can follow the same procedure to read your case and data. The only difference would be not to follow the step of submission to SGE.

3. Please remember this error is might not be due to network communications but only due to the fact that your libudf libraries are not been acessible by slave nodes.

I would assume in the discussion that you clsuter facility has all the nodes shared and you have read and write acess on them!

Last but not the least: If you are having customised data writing functions over the parallel environment you will have to modify your UDF's slightly. This has been explained in the UDF manual. Let me know how it goes and you can also reach me at kp@dal.ca. Good luck! KP

If its not a really "huge" mesh, you should start the case in a regular FLUENT mode, run 40-50 iterations, save the Case and data and then switch to parallel solver from there.

Good luck.

thanks for your answers.

KP-->I'm not using udf.

I had to switch to another project for a couple of weeks, so I couldn't find the time to check again. I'll post here if problems persist!

Hi,
I have a problem of conection refused
connect to address 15.0.0.203: Connection refused
in a single PC with 8 cores. I mean that I am not using multiple PCs in
Parallel rather I am using shared memory distribution.
Even I am not using any UDF then why this problem appears. The netwrok is
working fin e as well.

I know it has been a few years, but in case someone else is searching for this error, I'll describe how I encountered it and was able to fix it.

In my case the problem was that I still had a few custom monitors defined to observe the progress of the simulation. However I had recently changed my modeling methods, so one of the variables I was monitoring no longer existed, resulting in this error for every node after the first time step. Simply removing these monitors fixed the issue for me.

Help! What's wrong with my Fluent

Dear professors and scholars, when using expression function to edit pressure inlet conditions, the following error occurs in the calculation process: error at node 0: invalid expression
how to solve it?
